Abstract
The article describes the structural and power features of the ball overrunning safety clutch, which can be effectively used in kinematic-power systems that transmit loads in only one direction and prevent overloading of the working bodies of machines. It is known that roller overrunning clutches transfer the load due to the friction of the jammed rollers between the surfaces of the half-couplings and during significant overloads they can slip, which leads to their activation. Overrunning ball couplings transmit working loads by engaging the balls with the working surfaces of the half-couplings, and therefore significant overloads can cause local deformations of the working surfaces of the half-couplings or balls. One of the solutions to such a problem can be the use of ball overrunning safety clutches, which are capable of automatically disconnecting the kinematic chain during overloads. The conducted studies of the proposed clutch convincingly confirmed that the developed ball overrunning safety clutches can be effectively used as devices for limiting the magnitude of the rotational moment in mechanical drives of machine buil.
